[May 30, 2025] ASICLAND is taking the lead in building the AI semiconductor ecosystem in Gwangju through R&D, talent recruitment, and industry-academia collaboration.
ASICLAND (KOSDAQ: 445090, CEO Jongmin Lee), a company specializing in ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) design solutions, officially opened its Gwangju office inside the Gwangju Content Cube (GCC) on April 15. Since then, the company has entered the full-scale implementation phase, partnering with local universities and fabless companies to promote joint R&D, talent acquisition, and project development.
Following its MOU signed in September 2024 with Gwangju Metropolitan City, Chosun University, Chonnam National University, and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology to foster an AI semiconductor industrial ecosystem, ASICLAND has been the first among participating companies to establish a local base and implement concrete actions.
The operation of the Gwangju office aligns closely with the city’s AI Semiconductor Cluster strategy and serves as a practical catalyst for expanding the regional technology ecosystem. It also supports one of the seven key pledges proposed by the Democratic Party's presidential candidate—the establishment of Gwangju as a national AI pilot city—and is expected to help solidify the city’s role as a core hub in Korea’s national AI semiconductor strategy.
ASICLAND views its presence in Gwangju not as a mere relocation, but as a strategic base connecting its R&D capabilities with regional industrial resources. The company announced plans to hire over 100 semiconductor professionals in the region over the next six years, with active recruitment beginning this month. It also intends to cultivate high-level technical talent in fields such as chip design and verification through academic-industry cooperation with local universities.
Additionally, the Gwangju office is preparing for high-value-added projects, including the development of chiplet-based platforms and IP verification initiatives. These efforts will be supported by gradually expanding R&D capabilities through close regional collaboration.
